Black Panther tells the story of T'Challa, played by Chadwick Boseman, fresh of the heels from his appearance in Captain America: Civil War. He reprises his role as the King of Wakanda, amidst a controversy of Vibranium being stolen out of the country and used to manufacture weapons. Vibranium, if you don't know, is not only the key element to BP's suit and armor, but also what Captain America's shield is made of. It also serves as Wakanda's key resource, providing technological advances and prosperity that other countries could only dream of. As the theft of Vibranium is being confronted, a piece to the puzzle pops up in the form of Erik Kilmonger, Michael B. Jordan, who is the film's main antagonist.
To not go into much plot detail, all I can say is... "What can I say!?" Black Panther was an amazing theatrical experience. A great story backed by a great cast and great visuals, Black Panther is easily one of my favorite films of 2018 and within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It beat all expectations by becoming the highest-grossing film of 2018 (until Avengers: Infinity War lol), and the third-highest-grossing film ever in the United States (there are more records), with the highest opening for a film on President's Day Weekend. BP went on to take home $1.346 billion worldwide, solidifying that you can not only have a successful superhero film starring a black superhero, but have a successful superhero film with a predominantly black cast and black director. Check this movie out as we await the continuation of the Big Screen Saga that is the MCU. I'm already waiting for Black Panther 2 to hit us! 5 out of 5... WAKANDA FOREVER!
