Fans of The Lego Movie will find The Lego Batman Movie just as entertaining,
if not more . The standard Batman tropes exist here; witnessed parents being shot before him, becomes a self-contained/centered vigilante hero, poses as a billionaire playboy during the day, etcetera. Where Lego Batman (LB) takes off though is how it incorporates these tropes with the wacky humor of The Lego Movie, and Will Arnett's irreverent humor voicing The Caped Crusader. Showcasing a plot that revolves around Joker, voiced by Zach Galifianakis, going to the Phantom Zone, in an attempt to show Batman that he needs the Joker, and doesn't have meaning without the Joker. Turns out he's right. Hilarity ensues as Batman tries to make sense of being a hero while his arch nemesis is in a detention center in another dimension. Batman also takes on the role of dad, being that he "accidentally" adopted Robin, voiced by Michael Cera. Lego Batman sees the Dark Knight face his existential crisis with disarray and in a very non-Batman (overly efficient) way. But he has some help on his path including Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, voiced by Rosario Dawson.
Lego Batman will leave you entertained, whether your a fan of other Lego animation or not. It's a great family film with plenty to keep adults entertained. I give it a 4 out of 5. Check out The Lego Batman Movie!
